The Art Connection – 13th Anniversary ‘Harvesting the Dream: Seeding the Future’ Press Release

BOSTON, MA – The Art Connection’s 13th Anniversary event, “Harvesting the Dream: Seeding the Future,” will celebrate thirteen years of bringing art to life in Boston. The occasion will provide opportunity for friends, supporters, artists and art recipients to reflect on The Art Connection’s past, celebrate the present, and seed its future. With its fall celebration, The Art Connection will officially launch its 13th Anniversary Fund, a capacity building campaign to help meet demand for this unusual program.

Since its inception in 1995, this innovative art gifting program has supported more than 250 community organizations throughout greater Boston in their personal selection of 3500 works of art by more than 250 artist donors and collectors. Within these healing environments, the original works of art provide welcome opportunities for reflection, inspiration, comfort, and hope.

Harvesting The Dream will also serve to honor Al Chandler, who passed away last year, and who became a great advocate for and supporter of The Art Connection. Al Chandler was a Pulitzer Prize-winning historian and the Isidor Straus professor of business history, emeritus, at Harvard University. He was named the “dean of American business history” by Financial World magazine in 1991. September 15 would have been Al Chandler’s 90th birthday, and in his honor, a matching gift fund has been established. All gifts by new donors to The Art Connection from August 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009 will be matched. In addition any existing donor who wishes to increase his or her gift from last year will have that increase matched as well.

The event will take place at Artist for Humanity’s Epicenter, 100 West Second Street, Boston, from 6 to 9 pm. A short program with entertainment will begin at 7 pm. The event is partially underwritten by Artists For Humanity. Space is limited. Tickets start at $90. To purchase a ticket or to learn more about the event, go to or call The Art Connection at 617.338.7668.
