“To dream and to fantasize define my universe,” says artist Stephanie Warburg, who has been donating her “fantastic realism” landscapes, seascapes, and still life paintings in oil through The Art Connection since 2003.
Agency staff and clients are drawn to the themes in Stephanie’s works- nature, water, boats, and the delicately draped windows, which for many clients represent both looking ahead and reflection. Stephanie explores “mystical regions of our real and imagined space” while she paints and allows the viewer to do the same.
Stephanie recalls meeting our founder, Fay Chandler, “at a party and when she discovered I was a painter, told me about The Art Connection. Subsequently, I donated some work.” Since then Stephanie has seen 85 of her paintings be selected to hang at local service organizations.
Early on, she “was invited to a reception at an agency which received [her] paintings. That organization’s walls were plain steel gray. With the addition of the paintings the atmosphere became bright and cheerful!! I told Fay what a wonderful contribution she had made to the city of Boston!”
Stephanie received her BFA in painting and sculpture from University of Michigan and her MA in printmaking from Columbia University. Her paintings are in the collections of Government House, St. Vincent, W.I., MGH, plus hospitals, colleges and has had exhibits in Funchal, Madiera, Portugal; and Hiroshima, Japan. Her work is carried by L’Attitude Gallery, Boston and The Gingerbread Square Gallery, Key West. She taught drawing and painting at Chamberlayne Junior College, Boston and was Chairman of the Art Department of the Latin School of Chicago.
