On June 4, 2004, a number of artists and professionals affiliated with major museums, art schools, and health and social service agencies in the National Capital Region (Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia) established a program, based on The Art Connection, to link artists with organizations seeking art by cataloguing artworks available for donation, helping organizations choose and install appropriate works from the portfolio of images, and teaching the organizations to care for the art.
