Board of Directors


Lynn Babington
Lynn Babington
is an Associate Professor of Nursing at Northeastern University. She works with immigrant groups in Boston to improve health outcomes and access to health care. As the COO of a local nonprofit working with health centers in Boston, Lynn became acquainted with The Art Connection as several of the health centers were recipients of art work. She joined the Board in 2006.


 

Michael Bacon


Michael Bacon
is the Director of Nutritional Services at the Boston Living Center. He oversees the Meals Program, Nutrition Works Food Pantry (a collaboration with The American Red Cross of Mass. Bay) and also the Volunteer Program. He started work at the BLC in 1996. He has an extensive background in all aspects of food service, from catering, to teaching kitchen skills to developmentally disabled adults. Michael is an enthusiastic gardener and chef who always has room for one more at his dining room table. He joined the board in 2008.

Prilla Smith Brackett

Prilla Smith Brackett
has been working professionally as a painter for 27 years. Her work is in public and private collections, such as the Fogg Art Museum of Harvard University Museums, DeCordova Museum, Art in US Embassies Program, National Museum of Women in the Arts, Radcliffe College, Boston Public Library, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, E. F. Hutton, Fidelity Corporation, Honeywell, and Shell Oil in the USA, Japan, and Europe.



Fay Chandler

Fay Chandler
is founder of The Art Connection. She is a painter and sculptor who has been working in Boston since the early 1970s. Through her career, Fay Chandler has had more than 30 solo art exhibitions. Her work appears in collections in the Danforth Museum, the DeCordova Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Chrysler Museum of Art.



 


Kim L. Clark

Kim L. Clark
is a business development consultant, specializing in strategic plan facilitation and training in the sales process. Kim maintains a strong commitment to service and she has lent her support to the volunteer committees of several community organizations. Her interest in art led her to discover The Art Connection. Kim joined the board in June 2006.

 


 

Dr. Mary Coogan
Dr. Mary Coogan
was trained in the Jungian tradition at the Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, California. As a psychotherapist working in the depth tradition, she has over twenty years of consulting experience working with individuals and groups in private, community and institutional practice. Her "Ultima Thule" project is currently used as a clinical tool by creative arts therapists in the treatment of anxiety, depression and grief work. Dr. Coogan holds a Master of Fine Arts from The Institutp Allende, Gto., Mexico. She is a former Chair of the Board of The Art Connection and the Hanover Cultural Council.


Jessica Hoffmann Davis
Jessica Hoffmann Davis
is the founder and was the first director of the Harvard Graduate School of Education's Arts in Education Program. A cognitive developmental psychologist, Davis is interested in children's artistic development as well as arts learning within and across school walls. Jessica is the author of several books, including "Framing Education as Art: The Octopus Has A Good Day" and most recently "Why Our Schools Need the Arts". She joined the Board in 2006.

 

Deb Fraize

Deborah Fraize
is a fundraiser and project developer for environmental and social change nonprofits, a novice writer, and an enthusiastic supporter of the arts and the Art Connection. Originally from central Massachusetts and rural Maine, she currently lives in Cambridge. She joined the board in 2008.

 

 

Henry Goodrow


Henry Goodrow
is the Chairman of the Board for the Art Connection. He is a nonprofit organization professional who was most recently the Chief Development Officer at DotWell. Prior to that, he served as Director of Institutional Giving and Resource Development at Boston Ballet and Director of External Affairs at Codman Square Health Center, where he was first introduced to The Art Connection. Henry was born in Worcester, MA and after graduating from Columbia University, worked at JP Morgan for 15 years before joining the non-profit sector.


Carole Gunst
Carole Gunst
is a marketing professional with EMC. She has worked for Lotus, Iron Mountain, and other high-tech organizations along with running her own marketing consulting business. Carole headed up marketing and PR efforts for four Junior League Designer Show Houses. She's a member of the Boston Chapter of the American Marketing Association, the Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange (MITX), and Boston Chapter of the Social Media Club. Carole joined the Board in 2007.



Amanda Hurd

Amanda Hurd
is Chair Emeritus, and has been with The Art Connection since its inception in 1995. She has a BS in Art History from Columbia University, and she is a retired administrative officer.

 


Tom Johnston

Tom Johnston
is a partner at the law firm Holland and Knight, where he practices patent law. Before Holland and Knight, he worked for 6 years at Fish and Richardson PC as a patent attorney. Each year, Tom runs the Giles Rich Moot Court Competition for the AIPLA in Boston. Previous to becoming an attorney, he worked as a mechanical engineer for EIC Laboratories. Tom is also an avid woodworker, building various pieces of furniture for family and friends. He joined the board in 2007.



Julie Novakoff

Julie Novakoff is an Account Controller at State Street Corporation as well as a free-lance Art Consultant. Her passion has been with the arts since she learned to paint as a child and it has driven her most recently to pursue a graduate degree in Art Administration from Boston University. Julie became involved with The Art Connection because she believes in art as a catalyst for social change. She joined the board in 2008.

 


Lynn Schweikart

Lynn Schweikart
is a senior creative professional with a proven track record across a wide range of vertical industries, including retail, education, financial services, high technology, food, foodservice, HR, and healthcare. She works directly with clients and with advertising/design/interactive agencies on a project basis and through longer-term affiliations. Lynn joined the Board in 2005.

 

Tony Rello


Tony Rello manages housing programs for the St. Francis House, New England's largest day shelter. Prior to that, he taught their Moving Ahead Program at the Norfolk County House of Correction, working with inmates transitioning back into the community. A former businessman with interests in international travel, art and design, Tony truly believes in the transformative power of art. He is thrilled to serve on the Board and the Planning Committee of the Art Connection.

 

Alisa Taylor-Kapoor


Alisa Taylor-Kapoor is the founder of Spice Genie, a spice business for the gift trade based in Boston. Alisa was introduced to the Art Connection as an intern at The Children's Advocacy center, a recipient agency of the Art Connection. She lives in Weston with her husband Al and their two year old son, Axel. She joined the board in 2004.
